Welcome to the Gold Coast for the Tab One Pool Hcp Class 5 over 1400m on a Soft5 track under fine skies. Punters looking at the early win market see Outakandy heading the betting boards, closely followed by Battleton, Vacillation, and Nightcapped rounding out the main fancies in this competitive field. With the race already run at 2:14 pm AEST, let us look at how the yarn unfolded across the track and how the form lines stacked up for the punters.

Outakandy jumps out of barrier 4 for trainer Ben Hull and jockey Jag Guthmann-Chester, coming in third-up here after chasing hard when finishing third at Beaudesert over 1200m behind a strong winner. The form suggested readiness to peak at this stage of the preparation as a key player. Meanwhile, Nightcapped from the Jack Bruce yard drew barrier 3 for Benjamin Osmond, sporting a rating of 100 which kept punters interested despite a couple of testing recent outings up at the Sunshine Coast over this very trip.

Digging deeper into the race data, Vacillation brings an interesting angle from barrier 2 under Adin Thompson for trainer Ms M Brosnan, backed by a hot stable combination performing well above market expectations and boasting two career victories at the 1400m distance. Just missed at Kilcoy 10 Aug. Got back and wasn't totally disgraced at Beaudesert. Two of his wins were this distance. Looks a top three chance.

Was making up some late ground when 5th last time at Beaudesert and drawn nicely. Adin Thompson is a key booking but rising in grade. Modest contender.

Finished behind Outakandy over 6f at Beaudesert (handicap) when not beaten that far last month; unlikely to achieve more than just a supporting role.
