Welcome to Queanbeyan for the Tab Saver Hcp (C2) over the 1000m dash, where an overcast sky and a soft 6 track condition await the punters. Looking at how the win market is shaping up, Patrika Express holds down the mantle of the shortest runner, closely followed by Blue Akoya, Travelon Dory, and Sweet Rose sitting right next in line. It is a sharp sprint contest over the 1000m trip, and sorting out the early speed from the backmarkers will be half the yarn as they head toward the judge under these overcast skies at 4:35 pm AEDT.

Delving into the form lines behind those shorter prices, Patrika Express jumps from barrier 2 for jockey Coriah Keatings and trainer N J Olive, dropping back to a suitable class after setting the pace and getting caught late when second at Orange following a maiden win at Dubbo. Travelon Dory represents N J Osborne with Glenn Cahill steering from barrier 1, showing plenty of fight to win a Country Boosted benchmark 50 at Orange second-up, benefiting here from a nice weight drop and a good gate. Blue Akoya steps out from barrier 7 for Quayde Krogh and the stable of B Joseph & P & M Jones, closing off late from the tail at Wagga when second-up after a consistent run of placings. Meanwhile, Sweet Rose resumes from a 24-week spell for trainer J M Austin with Jess Taylor aboard, having placed on debut at Nowra and tuning up with an easy barrier trial win at Warwick Farm.

Scanning further down the speed groups and data packs, the early pressure looks intriguing with Patrika Express and Rained Out listed among the leaders, while Travelon Dory and Sweet Rose push forward to sit right on the pace. Blue Akoya takes up a backmarker lane, hoping to capitalise if the speed up front proves too hot over the Queanbeyan 1000m. While some combinations carry colder recent statistics, the tactical map suggests Patrika Express can use that inside draw to dictate terms and give punters plenty to cheer about in a fascinating class 2 showdown.
