Gawler's Race 6 is a 1706-metre handicap for horses rated 0–60 on a Good 4 track under overcast skies at 5:26 pm AEDT. The win market has Zarkana shortest, followed by Yarrawizardharry, Win To Retire, and Empirestateofmind. It's a tale of two narratives: one about redemption runs and class drops, the other about jockeys and trainers who've been running hot. The early pace is set to be a slugfest, with three runners mapped to race onpace—Mr Ribtickler, The Punk Rocker, and Win To Retire—while Yarrawizardharry and Hamner Springs lead from the front.

Win To Retire is the opinion standout. Yarrawizardharry, from barrier 1, profiles as the pace hunter: Todd Pannell is 28 per cent better than career average in recent form, and the five-year-old's last appearance at Gawler over 1500 metres saw it finish third by less than a length in a Benchmark 58. The comment notes it suits provincial racing and makes a strong appeal, though it folded at Morphettville last time.

Zarkana, shortest in the market despite sitting at barrier 7 as a backmarker, commands respect for its record and the Shane & Cassie Oxlade stable's hot form. However, a recent run at Morphettville saw it sent out at $6 unable to threaten, and the form reads vulnerable. Empirestateofmind ran second at this track over 1700 metres in the 0–56 handicap but maps poorly at Gawler and underperforms market expectations by 16 per cent. The opinion is with Win To Retire to break through at this level.
