Welcome to Pioneer Park for the Happy Birthday Cathy Starr Hcp, set over the 1200m open handicap trip on a good track under fine weather skies. Looking at how the win market has shaped up, punters have sent Tellez out at the head of affairs, closely followed by Black Zous and Flying Yishu next in line, with Bahama Bay, Boy Big, and Limited Risk rounding out the rest of the field in that exact order.

The yarn behind these shorter-priced runners tells an interesting story. Tellez is on a quick back-up for trainer Ms K Petrick, coming off a big-margin win over 1100m at Alice Springs where Lek Maloney was in the saddle; the form guide notes this runner dominated a small field when supported and looks very well placed for a repeat here with early speed on this circuit. Stablemate Black Zous is also on the quick back-up, having bolted in at Pioneer Park two starts ago before a minor placing over 1100m at Alice Springs, and while well held second-up historically, this campaigner is respected in the line-up.
