Welcome to Tamworth for the Barnson Tamworth Benchmark 82 over 2100 metres, run on a soft 5 surface with fine weather overhead. The local punters have sorted through the form line early, sending Spenzalot out at the head of the win market. Following right behind at the top of the betting are Immortal Rose, Macleay, and Hibiki Harmony in that order, setting up a fascinating staying test over the twenty-one hundred.

Spenzalot brings a tidy record from a good yard, coming off a solid third in a staggered finish at Rosehill over the 2400m after a strong win at Newcastle. This stayer is unbeaten at the track and distance, which certainly gives the S I Singleton stable plenty to like. Meanwhile, Immortal Rose is chasing three wins on the trot following dominant front-running displays over this exact track and trip. The D J Hatch runner keeps stepping up to the plate and commands respect despite jumping in grade.

Down the market, Hibiki Harmony adds some real intrigue for Brett and Georgie Cavanough, having run on soundly from midfield in the Port Macquarie Cup with Rory Hutchings taking the steering duties. With Hibiki Harmony wanting to lead the speed group and other handy contenders like Macleay looming from the midfield, this race played out as a cracking yarn for punters who love a proper staying battle.

Adept stayer from good yard. Secured third in a staggered finish at Rosehill over longer test. Unbeaten at track and distance. Makes strong appeal.

ILB

Nice run when 3rd last time at Rosehill but carrying more weight than last time. Mikayla Weir rates highly. Has strong claims.

Yet to taste defeat over this C&D, winning on all two attempts; didn't run too badly when out of the frame at Rosehill (beaten 4l) over 1m4f (handicap) two weeks ago; has to be considered with a bit more luck as excuses last time (tightened for room).

Looked good when 3rd last start at Rosehill but hoping that the added weight won't hurt. Mikayla Weir is a suitable booking. Chance and can measure up.
