Welcome to Balaklava for the Adelaide Galvanising Industries Mdn Plate over the 1600m on a good four surface under overcast skies. Punters looking at the early win market have Snobbery sitting at the top of the order, closely followed by The Punk Rocker, Elrond, and If You Don't Mind rounding out the front end of betting. The race jumps at 2:30 pm AEDT, and there is a fascinating yarn to unpack as these maidens look to break through over the mile journey.

Snobbery comes into this for Stephen Theodore, stepping out for a third run with the new stable and region. This runner has been fairly consistent this campaign, placing fourth over 1719m and fifth over 1500m at Gawler recently, and maps to be on pace. Meanwhile, Matt Whelan saddles up Elrond from barrier three with Stacey Metcalfe aboard. Elrond has plenty of exposed form with seventeen starts under the belt and warmed up nicely late at Gawler over 1516m last time out, getting the blinkers back on here with a lovely draw to work with.

Further down the order, Shane and Cassie Oxlade line up The Punk Rocker from barrier seven. This contender has put together some sound showings this campaign, including a battling fourth at Strathalbyn over 1350m, and should appreciate stepping up in distance on this occasion. With speed groups showing plenty of early interest from runners like Elrond and The Punk Rocker looking to take up positions near the front, this 1600m contest shapes as an intriguing puzzle for punters to solve.
