Eagle Farm's BM85 over 1200 metres shapes as a genuine puzzle on a Good 4 track under overcast skies at 5:42 pm. The market is led by a quartet that tells quite the story: La Roja, Grammar Lad, Gospel Girl, and Zoufani command the shortest odds. It's a race where form lines criss-cross and stable angles matter. Gospel Girl, trained by T J Gollan and ridden by Jett Newman, sits fourth in the market but arguably brings the most compelling recent form—a hard-fought win here at Eagle Farm over 1000 metres in Class 6 on a heavy track, with that same Gollan-Newman partnership firing at 29 per cent above market expectations over their last 100 rides.

La Roja leads the market despite two barrier trials, but the Jack Bruce yard is running hot at 30 per cent above market and the mare rates 86. Her comment notes she nearly landed a Benchmark 72 at Wyong first-up last campaign, and after 20 weeks between runs, two jump-outs should have her primed. Grammar Lad, the second favourite, trialled well at Deagon in heavy and soft ground after 24 weeks, and his last campaign saw a narrow win in Class 3 company at Doomben first-up—that resume reads sharp for a first-up showing. Zoufani, from the Gollan stable again, holds genuine track knowledge and a solid first-up record, though from barrier 10 he'll need some luck in running.

The speedMap throws up an angle: Gospel Girl sits onpace with Noble Decree, while Street Chase, Mishani Crown and Zoufani shape as leaders. Millane offers intrigue as a midfield runner with the fastest finishing splits last start and a quick-back jockey in Daniel Moor, now 24 per cent above his career average. The market's ordering suggests punters are weighing La Roja's stable form and fresh-up pattern over the more polished recent wins on the board. Gospel Girl remains the form horse in here on the back of that Eagle Farm victory, and from barrier 2 she'll sit perfectly placed to stalk the early pace and finish strong—if Newman's hand on the reins holds true to his recent trend.
