Welcome to Gatton where the weather is raining and the track is rated a soft 6 for this maiden plate over 1400m. Punters looking at the early win market order will find Zoubuca Shots sitting at the head of affairs, closely followed by Kick On Charlie, Overoptomystic, and Notes Of Autumn with the rest of the field following behind in what shapes as a tricky test on the wet surface.

Taking a closer look at the form behind those shorter prices, Zoubuca Shots jumps from barrier 3 for trainer Matthew Hoysted and jockey Fiona Sandkuhl. This runner showed good gate speed and sound form earlier in the campaign, though found little at the business end when finishing fifth over 1350m at Ipswich on a good 4. Meanwhile, Kick On Charlie lines up from barrier 4 for trainer P L Shailer and jockey Danny Peisley, bringing a promising debut performance when running third over 1410m at Grafton on a soft 6 surface. That prior soft track experience and strong late sectionals from the previous start suggest this contender should handle the conditions nicely.

For those chasing a bit more value down the form lines, Overoptomystic starts from barrier 1 for trainer Jack Bruce and jockey Anthony Allen, kicking off a second campaign after placing in the minors at Warwick on debut last preparation and tuning up with a couple of barrier trials at Doomben. At the other end of the market structure, Notes Of Autumn draws barrier 6 for trainer Adam Campton and jockey Karl Zechner, looking to improve on a modest debut at Doomben over 1200m where the assignment proved too tough, though the step up in distance here could help spark some improvement on race day.
