Welcome to Orange for a cracking afternoon of racing on a good four surface under fine skies, where the On-Trac Ag Orange and Bathurst Mdn Hcp over 1600m is set to jump at 2:10 pm AEDT. Looking at how the win market has shaped up early, punters have found Farcolo sitting right at the head of affairs. Right behind in the order we find Iron Rebel, Woollen, Grey Belief, Alideel, and Kojak, with Mr Crowning Moment rounding out the pack in this maiden contest over the mile. It is a fascinating race narrative where every runner is hunting that elusive first career breakthrough, bringing plenty of different form lines together for the yarn.

Taking a closer look at the form behind those shorter prices, Farcolo comes out of Hawkesbury where a recent sixth over 1500m followed a seventh over 1400m for trainer G Portelli and jockey Winona Costin from barrier one. Iron Rebel carries barrier five for the same stable with Pierre Boudvillain steering, looking to improve on an eighth at Illawarra Grange over 1400m where the run lacked a punch but should be better for the outing. Meanwhile, Grey Belief brings a more encouraging recent profile from barrier seven, having put in a very game effort when finishing third over 1600m at Coonamble under Jake Pracey-Holmes, suggesting this trip will suit down to the ground.

For punters hunting through the speed maps and remaining form lines, Woollen draws barrier two and is marked as a leader in the early speed groups, stepping out for a third run with the new stable and region after making some headway late over 1300m at Coonamble. Over on the on-pace side, Kojak maps well from barrier three for Clayton Gallagher and stable in-form trainer Todd Smith, bringing a very consistent record of minors into the mix. It shapes up as an open affair where respecting the runners who map on the pace could pay dividends as they turn for home.
