Welcome to Belmont for race five on the card, the Liquor Barons (Bm54+) over the staying journey of 2100m on a good four surface under fine skies. As punters start looking closely at the win market, it is Capable Angel who has found favour as the shortest priced runner, closely followed by Queen Nardi, Point Of Luck, and Tokyo Fire rounding out the early order of the betting board in this Benchmark 54 plus affair.

Taking a look at the form behind those at the head of affairs, Capable Angel comes here for trainer Brandon Fiore with Lucy F Fiore in the saddle from barrier eight. This runner scored over this exact 2100m trip here at Belmont before heading to Ascot where a reasonable effort was put in without seriously threatening in a slightly tougher assignment, suggesting this drop back in class should suit. Meanwhile, Queen Nardi draws barrier four for trainer D R Pateman and will be steered by Natasha Faithfull, who is riding well above market expectations lately. Queen Nardi was too strong for some but kept grinding away nicely for the minors when finishing third at Collie over 1990m last time out, stripping fitter for this test.

Down the market and looking at the speed map setup, the early pressure looks like it will come from the onpace contingent including Capable Angel, Macho Arquero, and Tokyo Fire, alongside leaders Queen Nardi and Worcester. Further down the order, Point Of Luck gets conditions to suit from barrier three as a backmarker, having run home respectably into a non-threatening fourth over this exact course and distance recently. While she doesn't win out of turn, her campaign fitness is building nicely and she could be worth keeping safe for exotics as the race unfolds at 7:21 pm AEDT.
