Rosehill hosts a Highway Class 3 sprint at 1200m in the early card today, jumping at 12:25 pm AEDT on a Good 4 track under fine conditions. The market has Yesspecially as the shortest price, followed by Mainstay, Brave Xena, and Defiance. It's a race with genuine intrigue: Yesspecially arrives unbeaten from two starts in a fresh campaign, having impressed at Taree last time out, while Mainstay carries a perfect three-from-three record and an IRD rating of 100. Both runners sit somewhere in the offpace lanes, though the field has early speed available through Just Hear Me Out and Panta Rhei.

Yesspecially's credentials are hard to ignore. The Paul Snowden–Kerrin McEvoy combination outperform market expectations by 26 per cent across their recent work, and this particular horse has shown early winners' form: two starts, two wins, the latest a decisive display at Taree over 1250m at Taree. The syndicators at Arrowfield bred something with grit. Mainstay, trained by Messara & Gavranich, has also been electric—three straight wins across CL1 and CL2 company, rating 100 according to IRD, and getting up in a photo finish at Scone last. The stable sit at 28 per cent strike rate and 6 per cent POT over the last hundred runners. Brave Xena, ridden by Mollie Fitzgerald, has been freshened for four weeks and showed promise in the minors at Hawkesbury second-up; the jockey-trainer combo with Luke Pepper are performing 49 per cent above expectations. Defiance, the leader, is on a winning streak and won impressively from the deep gate at Canberra last time, though this is a step up in class and distance.

The pace map reveals Defiance alone in the lead, with Just Hear Me Out and Yesspecially having early split advantage on this circuit. That leaves scope for backmarkers Athena's Treasure and Supreme Style, who both ran fastest-finishing sectionals at their last outing, though neither has won recently. Crime Of Passion and Release Point sit midfield and also boast strong closing times. On the quick back-up after trials and recent provincial efforts, Mainstay and Yesspecially shape as the standout chances—both carrying live ratings, strong record, and horses trained to peak early in campaign.

First up today. Was $61.00 and couldn't maintain the pace when 8th last run at Randwick and dropping back to a shorter trip. Suited by the weight drop. Would not recommend.

Form has been a bit mixed lately; held in eighth (Randwick) in July in a conditions race; easy enough to take on given the strong opposition here.
