Race preview

Swan Hill hosts a Benchmark 62 handicap over 1200m on Friday at 5:00 pm AEDT, run on a Good 4 track in fine weather. The win market is led by Neziha, followed by Two To Tango, Yoomee Wonder, and Mr Butt's Boats. It's a competitive field where form and placement matter equally, and the race shapes as a proper contest between runners drawn across the card.

Neziha is the shortest-priced runner and offers genuine credentials. The Hayes stable machinery is ticking at 31 per cent return on turnover across their last hundred runners, and Neziha sits on a winning note after that brilliant late-run success at Pakenham Synthetic. The form comment notes a fast finish from a good alley, and with a Class 1 run before that, the step back into Benchmark 62 looks well-suited. Two To Tango runs for the same stable and boasts similar stable ROI, though recent form at Pakenham Synthetic reads less convincingly—the comment suggests one for multiples rather than a straight-out fancy. Yoomee Wonder carries odds next and has drawn a shocker at 12, which the data flags as unfavourable. Last start at Bendigo showed improvement over the tail, but the Rating 90 and distance away from ideal support a watching brief. Mr Butt's Boats is fourth and shows a declining form line; the stable is underperforming market by 25 per cent, and the rating of 83 suggests this isn't where the money should go.

Baganov and Sir Loyne present an interesting contrast up the speedmap. Baganov holds the inside and will lead from barrier 8, with Billy Egan's recent form up 23 per cent on career average—a jockey booking signal that carries weight. Sir Loyne breaks from the coveted barrier 1 with Lachlan King, a pilot in hot form who's outperforming market expectation by 64 per cent, and he'll sit on pace. Both will likely battle for control early. Shalailed and Annotate are fast finishers sharing the offmidfield group; Annotate showed the quickest closing sectionals last start despite the trainer's recent struggles, while Shalailed's jockey-trainer combo is outperforming the market by 62 per cent. The race may well be run at the front, but late runners look to have genuine chances if they can track into the straight cleanly.
