Coffs Harbour's fourth race this afternoon is the Remembering Gae Palmer Maiden Handicap over 1000 metres on a SOFT6 track under fine conditions, jumping at 3:35 pm AEDT. The maiden ranks are well represented here, and the win market has settled with Our Red Ripper as the shortest-priced runner, followed by Sideact and Prestige Blue. The speed map suggests I'm Guessing will lead from barrier six, while Our Red Ripper is mapped to sit off the pace from barrier three. There's a genuine mix of trial form and previous racing experience across the field, which should make for an interesting contest.

Our Red Ripper arrives with an intriguing profile: the jockey-trainer combination of Andrew Mallyon and Renita Beaton is performing 48 per cent above market expectations, and Beaton's stable runners have struck at 14 per cent in their last 100 runners. The form itself is built on trial work—a win at Beaudesert (1050m, SOFT5) by a narrow margin and a fifth-place finish at Gold Coast (1000m, SOFT6)—so there's genuine racing rhythm here. Rating 87, with a dam that won three races, this runner offers the hot combo angle punters often follow. Sideact, meanwhile, sits second in the market despite being first-up after 18 weeks out. The IRD rating of 99 stands out, and the AAP commentary suggests this runner "gave a sight" on debut at Taree before taking lessons away. Daniel Smith, the jockey, has switched in today, which is flagged as a negative rider change, yet Sideact's barrier one is a golden gate in a 1000-metre race on soft ground.
