Welcome to Mornington for race seven on the card, where a competitive field of stayers lines up for the Catanach's Jewellers Benchmark 62 Handicap over the 2400m journey. Under an overcast sky and on a good four surface, punters are looking at Mickio holding down the top spot in the win market order, closely followed by Power Pivot, Hawk Power, and Crown Of Russia rounding out the leading fancies as the field prepares for a test of stamina over the staying trip.

The story behind the market shows Mickio bringing strong recent form to the table, having streeted rivals by a big margin over 2100m at Echuca last start for trainer M J Enright and jockey Brad Rawiller. The step up to the 2400m here looks a genuine positive for this adept stayer. Meanwhile, Hawk Power comes into calculations after giving a solid chase for fourth over this exact 2400m trip at Geelong, showing enough at double figures to suggest the distance suits nicely for trainer P Koumis and rider Neil Farley.

Further down the line, Power Pivot commands respect from punters after launching the fastest overall finishing sectionals last start when placing second over 2400m at Moe. With Craig Newitt in the saddle steering from barrier one, this backmarker will look to rattle home late.
