The Cornerstone Risk Group Dulcify Stakes kicked off at 1:50 pm AEST at Randwick over 1600 metres on a Soft 6 track with showers about. This Listed 3yo race has attracted a competitive field, with Genesis Runner heading the market from Wonka and Savagram. The longer journey appears to have sorted the field nicely — a genuine test for these young sprinters stepping up to the mile.

Genesis Runner has the nod in the market and earned some respect after running hard in the Up And Coming Stakes at Rosehill two back, finishing within striking distance of Ming Dynasty Quality. The Freedman-trained colt likes the extra ground and shapes as a genuine contender here, though the shift from Chad Schofield's less suitable booking warrants watching. Wonka showed enough to score a hard-fought win at Randwick-Kensington last start in a 3yo+ maiden — getting the gun run from barrier 3, this class rise could be a bridge too far. Savagram leads from barrier 8 and commands Rating 100 in the book, but the recent form tells a tale: got found wanting when Ming Dynasty Quality cruised past at Rosehill, and maps poorly at this track, running 26% below market expectations at Randwick. The Waterhouse and Bott yard suggested the rise to 1600 might suit, yet the evidence suggests caution here.

Hozumi presents an intriguing roughie out of barrier 7 with Tommy Berry aboard. This colt won smartly at his second run at Illawarra Grange, biding his time at the back before unleashing a sharp finishing effort — fastest overall sectionals last start tells the real story. Leopard Shark and Crown Of Fire occupy the midfield, and while the latter's Maher stable is firing (up 22% on market expectation), the jockey–trainer combo with Regan Bayliss is leaking value heavily. Leopard Shark, by contrast, has a hot jockey-trainer booking running 103% above expectations at Randwick in particular, and maps well from barrier 1. Your Colour won last start but steps into hotter water here, racing on pace from barrier 5.

Jumped at $4.00 and outpaced some runners late when 4th last run at Rosehill but up in weight. Interesting gear change of blinkers on first time. Strong claims.

Had a couple of these behind him when fourth at Rosehill last month in a Group 3; others more persuasive despite this looking a little easier than last time.

Finished seventh but wasn't beaten too far (just under 5l) over 7f at Rosehill (Group 3) three weeks ago; this might be easier; big chance as shown he can win fairly recently.
