Welcome to Leinster for the Bhp Nickel West Leinster Cup, a competitive 1600m test set for 7:06 pm AEDT on a fine day with the track rated good. The win market sees Got Lucky leading the line of early fancies, with Fries With That, Ruler Rocket, and Western Impact following closely in the order of betting. Punters looking for a yarn here have plenty to chew on as these seasoned campaigners back up quickly on a sharp program.

Got Lucky comes in for trainer Felicity Forbes-Ives with Kyra Yuill in the saddle from barrier 5, having put together a 48-start career with six wins and eight minor placings. The stable runner was ridden cold and never really figured over this trip at Leonora last time out, but with a few runs under the belt this campaign, an improved showing into the minors wouldn't shock. Ruler Rocket is drawn nicely in barrier 3 for jockey Ebony Johnson and trainer P R Bamford, arriving here off a gutsy second at Leonora over 1200m where he just failed to repel challengers after leading. That stable is firing well above market expectations, and this runner maps midfield with a big show.

Looking further down the field, Western Impact lines up from barrier 4 for R J Malpass and Sharni Webster, bringing a handy form line that features a late-finishing third over 1600m at Leonora behind a tearaway winner. Fries With That also represents the R J Malpass yard from the inside alley in barrier 1 with Tara Atherden steering, coming off a battling fourth over the mile on the quick back-up. With Deal Obtained and Mr Hollywood rounding out the mix across various map positions, punters have a fascinating tactical puzzle to solve before jumping into the cup feature.
